New Horizons for Young Women operate year-round and application for admission may take place at any time. Acceptance into the program is based on a thorough review from the Clinical Review Officer and Director of Medical Resources of the completed application. The approval process includes a review of your daughter’s current and past behavior, emotional, psychological, and educational evaluations,
as well as a review of your daughter’s
medical history.


Review for admission also includes a consultation with parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s), and with appropriate professionals as needed.

Admissions to New Horizons are performed on days specific to the group in which your daughter will be a participant.

Enrollment

The first step toward enrolling your daughter at New Horizons for Young Women is to fill out the Enrollment Application (online or paper format) it’s lengthy, but necessary for our assessment process. After your Enrollment Application is completed and forwarded to our Admissions Department. Our Clinical Review Officer, and Director of Medical Resources with a release of communications, will make the proper contacts and phone calls to assess the application.

Due to the thorough admissions assessment, the admissions process for New Horizons may take longer than 24 hours. To keep the admissions process timely, it is imperative that all names and phone numbers of your daughter's care givers are given in the releases and all information (i.e. psychological testing, discharge summaries, etc.) you feel is pertinent is provided upfront. If your daughter's Enrollment Application is accepted, an admissions date will need to be arranged with the Admissions Department.

Within the Guide and Workbook is information regarding letter writing, holidays, birthdays, writing assignments and how to plan the next step for your daughter and your family after New Horizons.

Tuition

New Horizons for Young Women is a private pay company. We do not bill insurance companies.

Our admission cost is $445.00 per day. There is a minimum length of stay of 42 days and any extensions are in seven-day increments. There is an enrollment fee of $2000.00 due upon admission of your daughter. The enrollment fee covers pre-admission physical, transportation from Bangor to the program, and all gear and meals supplied to your daughter.

The following tuition does not include the enrollment fee:

6 weeks tuition $18,690
7 weeks tuition $21,805
8 weeks tuition $24,920
9 weeks tuition $28,035

Additional Fees

Optional services that are NOT covered by New Horizons tuition are: medicine refills and any additional doctor, dentist, specialized medical services or mental health testing appointments. Fees for all of these services will be billed directly to you. Transportation to any medical or psychological doctor and/or dentist appointments, and any other transportation not including the initial pickup from the Bangor area will be billed to you at $3 a mile. Psychological testing services and private academic tutoring are not covered by tuition, but can be requested for an additional fee.

Payment Options

New Horizons for Young Women is a private pay organization. We do not provide direct billing to insurance companies. Payment options include: certified bank checks, wire transfers or credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard and American Express. When paying by credit card, New Horizons for Young Women has partnered with Authorize.Net to offer safe and secure credit card transactions for our families.

Financial Assistance

New Horizons has an affiliation with Sallie Mae Financial (www.slmfinancial.com). Please contact Sallie Mae for loan information.

If your employer has Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) please contact that EAP for financial resources.

Insurance Information

New Horizons does not bill insurance companies directly. We are a private pay program. Some plans will cover the cost of your daughter's clinical therapy and wellness checkups while she is enrolled in New Horizons for Young Women.

Please contact your medical insurance for reimbursement options prior to enrollment. Your insurance company may require a medical referral or pre-authorization. If a medical referral or pre-authorization is needed, contact your daughter's home psychiatrist and/or medical physician to issue a referral or pre-authorization for outdoor therapy. New Horizons for Young Women does not provide pre-authorization for treatment.

Financial Reimbursement

Please let the insurance companies know that you, the insurance holder, will be paying New Horizons for Young Women upfront and that any reimbursement needs to be paid directly to you, the insurance holder. New Horizons for Young Women respects your family's right to confidentiality. Therefore, after your daughter's stay, we will be providing you with a discharge packet. Included in the packet is the following information for you to submit to your insurance company: a breakdown of program costs; services rendered, including CPT codes and diagnosis; your daughter's therapist's name and credentials. New Horizons does not work as a liaison between you and your insurance company.
